Esquina

Esquina: literally the Spanish word for corner, the term esquina refers to the four (in some promotions six) corners of a ring. Additionally an esquina can also refer to an affiliation for either rudos or tecnicos(as in la esquina tecnica)-- this stems from the fact that rudos and tecnicos have a designated corner on the ring (typically, but not always discernible by visual markings). Since this is locality is fixed, porras will often sit behind these corners to support either the rudos or the tecnicos (depending on which corner they sit behind).

A typical lucha libre ring with four "esquinas"

Luchador tecnico Virgo (pink) stands on one of the esquinas of the ring. Note that tecnico corner is painted blue, while the rudo corner is painted red--these visual markings divide the arena between tecnico porras and rudo porras
