Jaula

Jaula: made most often out chain-link fencing (although chicken wire and steel bar variations exist), a jaula is a cage used in lucha en jaula (cage matches). According to author Steve Johnson, the first lucha en jaula (cage match) occurred on June 25, 1937 in Atlanta, Georgia, during which Jack Bloomfield defeated Count Petro Rossi.  Cage matches are often seen in North America, but their frequency in Mexican lucha libre is growing.

A variation of the lucha en jaula match is the juala de la muerte match during which the loser must either remove his mask or shave his head (depending on the terms set before the match), as is traditional in a lucha de apuesta match.
